Electroconvulsive Therapy Survey/Standards

In order to create a comprehensive list of Canadian programs and institutions that offer ECT, we contacted all healthcare centres throughout Canada and identified those that provide ECT. We developed a detailed questionnaire regarding ECT practices in Canada, and between 2007 and 2008, used it to obtain complete data from a total of 107 of the 175 ECT providers. The survey results have been reported at various conferences and in the journal articles listed in the News & Publications section.

The survey results highlighted the need for comprehensive ECT standards for use by all Canadian ECT providers. The development of such standards is currently underway.
